Person specification

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate evidence of the following skills, capabilities and experience: 

  • A strategic outlook with the ability to support and lead the School, fostering teamwork and cross-School collaboration.

  • Prior leadership experience in a complex university and from within a Law focused environment, with experience of managing budgets and people.

  • Role-modelling and championing academic excellence by demonstrating standing and credibility within the academic community.
  • Sound experience of academic and administrative leadership and management at a senior level.
  • A good understanding of what it takes to fulfil the tripartite mission of providing high-quality research, high- quality education and high-quality partnership activity at scale.

  • A strong track-record in research and of attracting research funding. 

  • Understanding and delivering financial sustainability for the School and King’s.

  • An ability to inspire and empower others within the School from junior members to those on the leadership team.

  • Understanding overseas and postgraduate student markets. 

  • Experience of making strategic commercial and financial decisions.

  • Significant experience of innovation and engagement with external partners.

  • Demonstrating persuasive and motivational skills and the ability to work through others.

  • Being a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent ambassadorial skills.

  • Knowledge of the UK funding arrangements.
