Essential


  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

  • Proven management skills at a senior level, including business case development, report preparation, data analysis

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills; demonstrating persuasive and motivational skills and the ability to work with and through others

  • Experience of securing and negotiating commercial contracts

  • Commercial drive and ability with an entrepreneurial approach

  • Experience of change management within a large organisation

  • Be resourceful and imaginative, with a natural tendency to seek and capitalise on opportunities

  • Evidence of planning and delivering projects on time and within budget

  • Ability to manage resources and staff

  • Commitment to high academic and educational standards

  • Ability to understand and lead in the different cultural environments (ideally, academia and business)

  • Collaborative, exciting and imaginative leader

  • Confident decision maker

  • High level of initiative and resourcefulness

  • Willingness to undertake travel nationally/internationally if required

Desirable

  • Understanding of the global HE market and how it is changing; ability to use this to inform the unit’s development

  • Experience of working closely with academics and UK academic institutions

  • Postgraduate degree or qualification in a discipline relevant to technology enhanced learning/ education/ management/ business administration

  • Experience of working on large scale projects
